The Paper Works are the latest development in Munana’s work to date. It is an experimental work, still searching for a line that would create a bridge into infinite freedom. Imminently subverting the frame by escaping it altogether.
The lace effect is created by chiseling the paper with a scalpel. Like a mad surgeon the artist operates for long straight hours to create one Paper Work.
COSMIC CHILD
Then the beehives become alien engineered portals to other dimensions. The Rwandan women become intergalactic goddesses wandering between worlds. We want to follow them through solar systems.
The organic and the mechanic are reconciled is Munana’s cosmic paper artworks in a gracious manner.
